Disappearing Finger Mittens

Disappearing Finger Mittens!
Materials
Size 3 double pointed needles
3-ply baby yarn
Gauge: 7 sts/inch
NOTES
-CHECK YOUR GAUGE!!!!!
If you need any help with a different gauge or size, comment and I'll convert it for you! You put a lot of effort into this, make sure everything is right!
-This is for MY hand. I have a 6 inch wrist circumference, and a 7 inch palm! If your hand is smaller, CO less, if your hand is larger CO more. This is why some of my directions are general.
-When I say 'Kfb': use your favorite increase! Who am I to tell you different?
-Straight needles: On the fingers, I said ‘straight needles’ so that it would be understood not to work in a round

Cute pattern! I linked to it from knittingpatterncentral.com. I've been thinking about knitting gloves for a month now--I guess it's time to just go for it!

Hi Kathryn. My name is Sandra. I found your beautiful mittens through knittingpatterncentral. I fell in love with them at first site. I have been looking for an idea for mittens for my sister. No matter how many patterns I looked at I always came back to yours. I am an ok knitter. I have made many scarves and hats. I haven't done intarsia or cables yet. I do not know how to convert a pattern to yarn I have on hand. I would like to take advantage of your gracious offer to convert for me if it is possible. I would like to use caron simply soft yarn. it is 18 st by 24 rows and a recommended needle size of 8. I would like to use a needle a bit smaller to make the mittens more dense. Is this possible? I really did not want to buy more yarn but if you think it is a good idea to use yarn with a closer tension I will consider doing so. Thank you for your kindness. Sandy

Well first off, I'm going to need your knitted gauge. So take out whatever yarn and needles you want (Not the recommended on the yarn label, what YOU knit it at!) And find the gauge for 1 inch, also please include your email in the next post so I can email you the finished pattern!

(Don't worry, I will delete the post w/ your email as soon as I get it for your own privacy!)

Hi
I have been looking for mittens that are convertible for weeks and yours is the nicest one! I am new to knitting & tried to convert other patterns for my 4 and 6 yr old granddaughters to no avail. Can you help me? Their palm circumference are 5 1/2" & 5 3/4", their wrists are 5 1/2" & 5 3/4" as well.
I have # 2 dpns & 2 skeins of 100 % merino wool & 2 seins ofLana Grossa Meilenweif cotton fun. Thank you for your input. My email is swiehe@aol.com I am open to any of your suggestions.

HI, nice site! I was wondering... can you use circular needles for that?

Anonymous said...

Abbreviations - kfb, inc. ms all mean the same increase. Right.

Hi - I started making the mittens today on long circular needles. I think I must have done something wrong as the thumb pattern on the back doesn't match up to the front - is this the way it is supposed to be. I tore it all out thinking I would start over, but then I thought I had better ask. Thank you so much for the pattern.

I want to make these so bad but my knitting gauge never is quite the same as patterns call for. Can you help me convert this? My gauge is <26 st in ribbing = 4 in> and <22 st in stockinette = 4 in> Thanks a million!

Hi, I love these mitts but wonder if the pattern has to be reversed for the other hand as I'm discovering I'm not too good at doing that part for myself!!!

I too love these mittens, but am confused about what to do with the stitches that are after the marker. I plan to make 2 possibly three sets, and at this time cannot get past the cuff. Could you or anyone else reading this blog give me some help. Thanks so much

I would like the pattern converted to use size 6 needles, and regular 4 ply knitting yarn. Could you do that for me. My e-mail is emdahl@wiktel.com
